  • Ayurveda, a Sanskrit word that translates as life knowledge (Ayur = life, Veda = knowledge), is over 5,000 years old and originated in ancient india.  Aveda (A = all, veda = knowledge) has been based on this ancient healing tradition since inception in 1978, Aveda Spas have been refocused with the Ayurvedic tradition by incorporating the Elemental Nature system in 2000. Ayurveda encompasses many aspects of life knowledge from philosophy to medicine, to meditation and wellness. At its essence, Ayurveda and Elemental Nature are about actively participating in the awakening and well-being process, taking control of your own life and health. In these modern times, many people rely on doctors for their health. When one is not feeling well, they go to the doctor and essentially say Fix me! or Give me a pill to make this go away. However, this is not the most effective way to move towards health because one is asking someone else to do their work for them. The same is often true when people visit integrative health care practitioners whether acupuncturists, ayurvedic physicians, naturopaths, homeopaths or massage therapists. They are just asking someone else to fix them but now with different tools. In order to truly move to health and wellness, the individual needs to participate in the well-being process. Individuals can use health care practitioners including massage therapists as partners, who assist them on their path of wellness. Instead of being a fixer, the therapist becomes a guide to help the guest understand why they have been feeling the way they feel and give them tools to help them create change.Elemental Nature Massage:A personalized massage experience based upon the Aveda Elemental nature philosophy and your chosen balancing essential oil.
